Season Opener Du/Tri

Well, the TE season officially started this past Sunday with the kickoff of our race series….Max Performance’s Season Opener Du/Tri.  We had 8 women racing…3 doing the duathlon, and 5 of us crazy enough to do the tri and get in the 58 degree water of Hopkinton.  It was a big day for Libby as she completed her first ever triathlon!  She did great and we can’t wait to see how the rest of her first season plays out.  And our relay team finished 2nd in the female division….go TE!!  Great job everyone!  Pictures are coming…

Season Kick-Off Potluck

We’re kicking the season off with the other thing we do really well besides swimming/biking/running….

EATING!!

When: Sunday, May 6th
Where: Kristi’s house, check emails from Google Group for details
Time: 5-8pm
What to bring:  Something yummy!  We will start a Google Doc for everyone to see so that hopefully nobody is bringing the same thing.

An exciting addition to Try the Tri!

In preparation for next Saturday’s event we have decided to raffle off three (yes, 3!) free race entries!!  Non-members are welcome to enter the raffle, but if they win they must become a TE member within the following week; these entries were a gift to the team from Max Performance and can only be used by team members.

Which races are they?

Title 9: Escape the Cape (Sprint distance) – Sunday, June 3rd

Title 9: MA State (Olympic distance) – Sunday, July 15th

Title 9 (Sprint distance) – Sunday, September 9th

Check out the Max Performance website to get all the details.  Then come to Try the Tri next Saturday, April 14th to learn about triathlon, meet some TE members and enter our raffle!

Try the Tri is coming up!

Want to know more about triathlon?

Always been curious, but don’t know if you can complete one?

Ever wished you just had someone to explain everything to you?

Well, if any of those answers were a “yes” then we have just the event for you!  We host an annual event called Try the Tri.  It’s an informative couple of hours about triathlon.  The public is welcome (and encouraged) to attend to learn all about triathlons.  This year our coach, Tony Rich, will be presenting a quick seminar about a triathlon topic.  Then, we will have a panel discussion comprised of an experienced triathlete, a beginner triathlete, and our coach…so you can ask all those questions you’ve been saving.  And, of course, there will be food. :)

When: Next Saturday, April 14th
Time: 12:30-2:30pm
Where: Simmons College  Holmes Sports Center, 331 Brookline Ave.  Click here to see it on a map.  Once inside the building the front desk will direct you upstairs to the function room.

No RSVP needed….so grab a friend and head on over for an informative afternoon.

Outdoor Track Starts Wednesday

We’re excited to be leaving the small indoor oval of MIT and head outside where a 400m is only one lap, not two.  :)

Track practice starts this Wednesday, April 5th at the Brookline track near Jamaica Pond.  It will alternate every week with the Watertown track at Victory Field.  Please visit the Training page  and scroll to the bottom to get all the details.  If you have any questions please feel free to email Coach Tony.

Track is only open for current TE members.

Expo was a success!

Thanks to everyone who came out yesterday to help out and made it a great day!  We entered the Club Challenge as one of the only all-women’s teams, although there wasn’t a specific category of it, and had a great time competing.  We also met a lot of great women and hope they’ll join us this season.

Multisport Expo

It’s our favorite time of year again…The Multisport World Conference and Expo is in town!  TE will have our tent up and be raffling away a free entry for new members that join at the Expo.  What a great way to start the season!  Another great reason to come will be all the fabulous seminars and vendors…who doesn’t love a deal on gear?!

When: Saturday, March 31st
Time:  Clinics run from 8am-4pm, Seminars run from 9am-4pm, and general admission for the Expo is from 10am-4:30pm
Cost: FREE!!

So, come down to the Expo next Saturday.  It’s sure to be a great day!

Newton Running Clinic

We are very excited to announce that we will be having our own Newton Running Clinic!!  Newton will be educating us about proper running form, the benefits of a mid or forefoot landing, and best of all we’ll get to try out their shoes!

When: Saturday, March 17
Where: Marathon Sports, 1638 Beacon St, Brookline – It’s in Washington Square right on the Green Line.
Time: 9am – so no excuses that you have St.Paddy’s Day plans that early in the morning and can’t make it! :)

We hope to see you all there…it should be a great clinic!
