About Our Coach

We are excited to have Coach Tony Rich joining the TE family for the upcoming 2012 season!!   Tony has been competing in endurance sports since 2003 and comes well qualified having completed many races of varying distances.  To be exact: 3x Ironman finisher, 6x Half-Iron finisher, over 23 Marathons (PR 3:14:46) of which, 9 are consecutive Boston Marathon finishes.

Although Tony’s full-time job is as an investment analyst, he discovered a joy in coaching friends and volunteered his time to coach local groups.  His coaching turned serious and he now holds an impressive list of qualifications that we are excited he will be sharing with the team this season.

USAT and ITCA Certified Triathlon Coach

Level 3 USA Cycling Certified Coach

American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard

American Red Cross Certifications held in CPR/AED, Waterfront Safety, and Standard First Aid

In addition to coaching all of our regular workouts Coach Tony will be offering deep discounts to all TE members on the extra services he provides through his coaching service, Event Horizon Endurance Sport.  Just another great reason to join TE this season!

Swim Workouts

Team EnVision is offering coached swim workouts to members January through May at the Condon Community Center in South Boston. Practice time is 7:00 – 8:00 pm and incorporates fun, challenging elements to help you get faster, stronger, and more confident in the water.

In the spring, we offer at least one underwater video clinic.

Open water group swims start up when the weather warms up, and last through the early Fall.

Bike Workouts

Once the warm weather comes back next spring, Coach Tony will be sharing his amazing bike experience with the team and leading outdoor bike workouts.  The location and terrain will vary to keep us on our toes and help us get faster!

Run Workouts

Before you participate in a run workout, you should have a basic level of fitness to avoid injury and over stressing your muscles, tendons, and joints. Start off with one of these workouts per week and then gradually increase to avoid injury. These workouts are an integral part of run training, and some athletes may need to work up to them.

If you are new to running and/or track, please consult with Coach Tony before your first track session.

We have all levels of participants at track, so please do not feel intimidated because you think you run too slow– you’ll cheat yourself out of improving your speed, technique, and increasing your enjoyment of running!

Outdoor Track Sessions

Indoor track has come to a close and we’re moving outside!  Outdoor track will be a little different this season as we will be alternating between two track locations on a weekly basis.  This will make it easier for people to join practice that might not be able to make it to a particular location.

When: Starting this Wednesday, April 5th at the Brookline track.
Time: 6:30-7:30pm
Location:  The locations will alternate weekly between the Watertown track at Victory Field and the Brookline track at Downes Field near Jamaica Pond.
Directions: Click here for a Google map that has both locations on it.

Email Coach Tony with your RSVP or any questions/concerns you have about track.

If you can’t make it to track don’t worry.  The weekly track workout (along with which track we’ll be at) will be emailed through the Google group email by Coach Tony well in advance.
