The summer racing season is already well underway, with two race series under our belts and a strong showing by the TE ladies at both!
The MaxPerformance New England Season Opener was on May 12 in Hopkinton, with Trinity, Gina, and Z racing the duathlon, Carole racing the triathlon (in 58 degree water for those keeping track), and Kim racing in a relay doing her first open water swim. Despite a torrential downpour on the bike, everyone finished strong and it ended up being a great morning. Here are some pics from that race:
The second race in the TE 2013 race series was MaxPerformance’s Escape the Cape on June 8. 6 racers took advantage of the gorgeous Onset, MA location to rent a house and make a weekend out of it, with the rest of the crew (14 in all!) daytripping the easy commute. Race weekend started out uncertain with heavy rain and hurricane conditions forecasted, but flexibility by MaxP and the town of Wareham allowed a late race start with all segments of the race intact (except a slightly shorter bike course due to flooding). The rain and wind had totally died down by the 10:30 gun, the water was glassy flat, and the roads were mostly dry– great conditions to race in! TE ladies rocked this event, with Z and Ruth snagging podium spots in their age group, and the unstoppable relay team of Laurie, Cathy, and Diane coming out on top (once again…give someone else a chance, will you ladies?) Here are some pictures from the race and from the rest of the weekend when the sun came out and made it really feel like summer on the Cape.
