Past Events – 2014 Season

October 5th: Bike clinic with our coach, Karen Ghiron. 10:00AM. Meet at: Newton High School Track

The topic for our final clinic of the year will be a hill climb workout and a discussion of off season training, join us to learn how to bridge your training into and through the winter!

August 6: Brick clinic with Karen Ghiron. 7-8 PM. 

Meeting at Hanscom Air Force base. Bricks are a key workout for any distance triathlon. In this clinic we will ride for 40 minutes and do a quick transition to a brick run for 20 minutes.

July 19th: Coached ride with Karen Smyers, 4 PM. Walden Pond parking lot.

Following a 30 minute introduction and discussion with a legend of Ironman Kona, we’ll head out for a 1.5 hour no drop group ride. 

June 18th: Swim clinic with our coach, Megan Gurley. 6:30PM


June 6-8: Training Weekend 

University of Maine, Biddeford. This is arguably our biggest event of the year, a great weekend full of training, clinics, and spending time with teammates. Mouseover the Training tab and click the Training Weekend link at the upper right of this page for more information as we confirm details!

May 17th: Social event–Yoga 4PM with Dustienne Miller

Location: Marathon sports, 425 Centre St Newton. Unwind from those hectic training schedules by doing some strength and flexibility work with teammates! Mats, props, and water provided. We’ll head to a local watering hole after to retox after we detox, so bring a change of clothes for after! 

May 4th Run clinic with our coach, Karen Ghiron. 10-11 AM.

Newton North High school track, 457 Walnut St, Newton, MA 02460. For a map click  here. This interactive clinic on the ” Hill Repeats” will cover help how to effectively integrate speed workouts and hills into your training. 

April 13th: Season Kickoff potluck.

This is the official start to the TE training season. Our potlucks are always popular, but this year we have a special treat aside from those on the dessert table. We will have acclaimed nutritionist Nancy Clark speaking to us about nutrition for training and racing. Anyone who has seen her speak knows she is a wealth of information on the topic, and we’re excited to have her come share her expertise with us while enjoying the delicious food that we’ve come to expect at TE events. 

April 6th: Run clinic with our run coach, Karen Ghiron. 10-11 AM.

 This interactive clinic on the “Basics of Track Workouts” will cover help how to effectively integrate speed workouts into your training throughout the summer to get faster at any distance race. THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO NON-MEMBERS, PLEASE JOIN US!!!!

April 5th: Try the Tri, 10AM-12PM.

Cannondale store, 1001 Mass Ave Cambridge (google map click  here). This is a great event for all levels of triathletes, and a chance for members to get to know each other better.  We’ll have great talks by Scott and the staff at Cannondale on:  how to be a great cyclist without spending a fortune on gear, advanced bike mechanics (how to tune up your bike, beyond the basics of just fixing a flat) as well as a talk by our always entertaining swim coach, Megan. THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO NON-MEMBERS, PLEASE JOIN US!!!

March 29th: Tri-Mania summit and expo. 10AM-5PM

Drop by the TE booth (#155) to learn more about the team, meet members, and sample some of our culinary treats. Also cheer on your teammates doing the Fast Splits 10k time trial bike at 10:45 and stick around for a full day of great talks, vendors, and workshops!
