The best way to improve your fitness and ability is to train smart: be consistent, avoid injury, and have fun!

Team Workouts are described below, but all members are encouraged to post swim, bike, and run workouts to the TE Google and/or Facebook groups. You never know who might want to join you!!

Team EnVision Swim Coach Becky Paige

 

Swim Coach Becky Paige

Becky has been swimming competitively since she was a kid. She swam for the Acton Boxboro Regional High School team as well as the New England Barracudas club team. From there, she got a full swim scholarship to Northeastern University and was team captain her senior year. Now her passion is triathlon. She is an All American and 4-time Ironman World Championship qualifier, as well as multiple qualifier for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. Her 2015 awards include placing top 3 at Nationals in both the Olympic and Sprint distances. She has also represented Team USA in the Olympic distance race for a 6th place finish at the World Championship in Chicago. Becky capped off 2015 with a 2nd place finish at Ironman Cozumel – landing her yet another opportunity to race in the lava fields of Hawaii at the Ironman World Championship in October 2016. Becky wants to share the lessons she’s learned through her deep experience in racing and training, helping you to prepare for your race and fitness goals for your next great season.

Swim Workouts

Indoor Swim

After many wonderful years at Brookline High, we will be swimming in a new location this year: Draper Pool, 5275 Washington St. West Roxbury.

Swim sessions will begin Wednesday, January 11, 7:30 – 8:30pm.  We’ll continue for 20 weeks, with May 24 as the final swim date.

We will have 2 lanes at Draper, so we’re going to see how things go over the first month or so and then assess whether we’ll be able to offer a drop-in option. Therefore, if you want to guarantee a spot in the pool, be sure to register for a swim membership.

Becky Paige will be back with us this coming season as our swim coach.  She’ll be at 10 of the 20 sessions, aiming for twice a month.  We’re still working out when she’ll be on deck in January, given her work schedule is still evolving.

Becky will be creating workouts for all 20 swim weeks & all TE members will receive them.

Outdoor Swim

 

Open water group swims open to all members are on Wednesday evening at Walden pond, 6:30 PM-7:30 PM. Team members meet at the boathouse near the main beach and will split up into groups based on expected pace and distance. All levels welcome!

In addition, we will be having 3 swim clinics with our swim coach, Megan. These will be held on Wednesday June 18th, 6:30 pm, July 23rd, and August 16th. Please see emails for more information and details.

Bike Workouts

TE coordinators and members offer frequent weekend road rides of various distances and speeds throughout the greater Boston area starting in April.  The location and terrain varies to keep us on our toes and help us get faster! Join the TE Google and Facebook groups to hear about these fun social rides.

Run Workouts

Before you participate in a run workout, you should have a basic level of fitness to avoid injury and over stressing your muscles, tendons, and joints. Start off with one of these workouts per week and then gradually increase to avoid injury. These workouts are an integral part of run training, and some athletes may need to work up to them. We have all levels of participants at track, so please do not feel intimidated because you think you run too slow– you’ll cheat yourself out of improving your speed, technique, and increasing your enjoyment of running!

There are several free and inexpensive coached track workouts in the Boston area. Here are a few that TE members like to attend.

A Healthy Balance Track Workout:

Join Team AHB for structured track workouts run by a certified running coach!

Day: Tuesday

Time: 6:30 (7:30 in warmer months)

Location: Faxon Track, Coddington Street, Quincy

True Runner Fire Hill Workout:

Come sweat with our squad and see what these hills can do for your running!

Day: Wednesday

Time: 6:00

Location: Newton Fire Department Station 2, 1750 Commonwealth Avenue, Auburndale
